Sustainability across Energy and Facilities

Energy & Facilities is committed to providing services that help our customers operate more efficiently, as well as support the University’s efforts to become a more sustainable institution. Below you will find a sample of our offerings that have been developed with these goals in mind.

Custodial Services is the only cleaning service at Harvard to achieve Green Seal™ (GS-42) certification.  In addition, the group was the first in-house cleaning service in all higher education to be certified.

Encouraging the systems created by nature: healthy soils supporting healthy plants.  The foundation of an organic program requires plants and soils to be viewed as extensions of one another, existing in a symbiotic relationship.

A valuable resource for facilities management teams across the University, the program evaluates building energy performance using rigorous ASHRAE Level II standards.

The Resource documents the knowledge gained from Harvard's certified and registered LEED® projects, as well as information culled from years of experience in sustainable project management.

Reducing, reusing, and recycling our trash at Harvard generates significant environmental and economic benefits.  We are committed to helping the University achieve Zero Waste!

Supporting capital projects by organizing design charettes, LEED® administration and training, incentive management, and more.
